Chichester and Langstone Harbour Wildlife Cruises
We are now berthed at Southsea Marina in Langstone Harbour till mid March.
Between September and March about 45,000 migratory non breeding water birds arrive in the harbours to feed over the winter period and to watch them at their best we sail over the low tide to view the birds on the inter-tidal mud flats.
This year we are delighted to be joined by professional wildlife lecturer John Arnott as our Guide. Since retiring from a career in wildlife conservation, John has been surveying wetland birds in Chichester Harbour for the British Trust for Ornithology. He leads public wildlife walks and give talks for Chichester Harbour Conservancy and also conducts Seal surveys.
Our guests have enjoyed four sailings so far this winter and our next wildlife trip is around March 5th from Langstone so don't miss it, and don't forget to bring binoculars!
Many thanks to John for his guidance, and for his beautiful picture of a Red-Breasted Merganser, one of our Winter visitors, taken from Sunstar.
